BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Catamounts (3-2, 0-0 AE) earned their third straight win of the season with a 3-2 victory over Michigan St. (2-2, 0-0 B1G) on Friday afternoon at the Moulton Winder Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After the first 15 minutes of play, the teams remained scoreless.

In the 23rd minute of the game, senior Maddie Priestly got the Catamounts on the board with a deflection-style goal. The initial shot off the short corner by junior Klara Mikulaskova was blocked, senior Mora Fernandez de Oliveira put the rebound on goal, which Priestly deflected into the net.

In the 28th minute, the Catamounts were awarded a penalty stroke. Junior Alicia Battistelli buried the ball in the top left corner, giving Vermont a 2-0 lead.

Michigan St. responded with back-to-back goals. Sophomore Caro Schaffer scored in the 35th minute, and junior Brynn Shaffer followed with a goal in the 38th minute to tie the game at 2-2.

In the 52nd minute, junior Consu de Castro carried the ball from outside the striking circle to the front of the net and scored in the low left corner. It was ultimately the game-winner for the Catamounts.
