HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 10:55 to play in the final frame the Catamounts came inches away from pocketing the opening goal. Blake Steenerson broke down the wing and fired a wrist shot that bounced off the crossbar and popped right back out to Hrabal and he covered it in the crease. The referees reviewed the play but confirmed the ruling it didn't cross the line.
- The Minutemen broke the deadlock with 6:20 to play in the third period in transition. Justin Kerr chipped a puck to the front of the net and Lucas Olvestad was a half-step past the UVM defense and he chipped it past Aiden Wright for his fourth goal of the season.
- Vermont pulled its goalie seeking an equalizer in the final 1:54 of game action. UMass blocked four shots over the final stretch and then with five seconds left Jonah Aegerter got a shot through to Hrabal, but it rang off the crossbar and out.
