COACH'S QUOTE
"I really expected better from our team today," said Head Coach
Jim Plumer. "We really only played one good period (the third) and it's tough to win hockey games that way. Our penalty kill and goaltending were the only parts of our game that were up to our standards. We've got to be better tomorrow and in all games going forward."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period that saw Vermont block 11 shots, it was Boston College that eventually found the opening goal 5:20 into the second period when Grace Bickett buried a rebound off her own shot in the slot, her first goal as an Eagle, earning Boston College the 1-0 lead.
- The Catamounts were granted a five on three advantage when two Eagle players received minor penalties with just over two minutes of the middle frame remaining, but Avah Sedore stood tall, making three saves in the final minutes, sending Boston College to the second intermission with the one-goal lead.
- Vermont knotted the score at 1-1 a little over halfway through the final period when Skoda swooped around the back of the net, corralling a rebound with her backhand and pinning a shot top shelf, securing her second goal of the season. Zoe Charland earned the assist on Vermont's goal, her fourth of the season.
- Boston College scored a go-ahead goal with 3:18 of regulation remaining courtesy of Ava Thomas tallying her seventh goal of the season. The Eagles made it difficult for Vermont to find an equalizer, ultimately skating away with the 2-1 victory on home ice during the first game of the weekend set.
