Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Iona 8-5 in Home Opener

FINAL SCORE: Vermont 8, Iona 5
BURLINGTON, VT. – Five different Catamounts registered at least one goal or more during Vermont's (2-1) home opener against Iona (1-1) as the Catamounts defeated the Gaels 8-5 on Tuesday morning from Virtue Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lydia Doraz gave the Catamounts an early lead with a goal at 14:19 in the first quarter.
  • The Catamounts extended their lead with a 5-0 run from three different players. Ali Cabot scored her fourth goal of the season, Jane Trauger completed a hat trick, and Lyla Kimball netted her first career goal.
  • The Catamounts entered the second quarter leading 6-0.
  • Karina Sethi for the Catamounts scored a man-up goal at the 14:26 mark of the second quarter for her third goal of the season.
  • Iona scored at 9:08, with Jocelyn Smith converting an assist from Kacie Scarduzio.
  • The Catamounts led 7-1 at halftime.
  • Doraz scored her second goal of the game at 13:07 in the third quarter to open the second half.
