BURLINGTON, Vt. – Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Chris Feifs has accepted the Associate Head Coach position at the University of Virginia, it was announced Wednesday evening. A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
"On behalf of the Athletic Department and the entire UVM community, I want to thank Chris for his exceptional leadership of our men's lacrosse program over the past ten years," said Director of Athletics
Jeff Schulman. "Chris poured his heart and soul into the program, achieved historic success, all while recruiting and developing young men who represent the best of college athletics on and off of the field. We wish Chris and his family all the best as they begin this new chapter."
Feifs wraps up his tenure in Burlington as the winningest coach in program history with an overall record of 78-59. He led UVM to its first America East Conference championships in 2021 and 2022 – the same year he guided the program to its first NCAA Tournament victory. Under his leadership, Vermont won shares of three straight America East regular season titles from 2021 to 2023 and made six appearances in the conference championship game. He was named the America East Coach of the Year in 2023 and the New England Coach of the Year in 2021
"To all my players and alumni who have come through this program, thank you for all you've given to the Catamount family," said Feifs. "It has been a privilege to work with you and to be a part of your lives while wearing the Green and Gold and beyond. To my coaches and support staff, you've carried me for 10 years and allowed me to live my dream every day. To
Jeff Schulman and the UVM administration, thank you for taking a chance on a young assistant eager to be part of this proud athletic department where winning is important but character is the priority. I will look back at the past 10 years as the single greatest growth period of my life, and I owe it all to Catamount Country and the great state of Vermont. This place will always be my second home. Thank you!"
