BURLINGTON, Vt. – No. 13 Vermont begins its 2026 campaign on Thursday Aug. 20 hosting Geroge Mason (Atlantic 10) on Virtue Field for the first time in program history. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on ESPN+.

VERMONT OUTLOOK
- Vermont's season opener against George Mason will be the first matchup between the two programs since 1988 and the first ever on Virtue Field.
- David Ismail and Niklas Herceg were each selected on the America East Preseason All-Conference Team.
- The back-to-back America East Champions were selected to finish second in the America East Preseason Poll. This is the first time Vermont hasn't been selected as the preseason favorite since the 2023 season.
- The Catamounts are 4-1-1 in their last six home openers.
- UVM played in two exhibition matches before the regular season, defeating Central Connecticut State University 2-0 at home and defeating Yale 2-0 on the road, not conceding a single goal in either matchups.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
- The Patriots are coming off a 7-6-3 campaign in 2025 where they went 4-2-2 in Atlantic 10 play, returning under fifth-year Head Coach Rich Costanzo.
- George Mason scored 32 goals in 2025 with top producers Martim Sereno (6G, 5A), and Kelly Janseen (5G, 1A) returning for the Patriots.
