COACH'S QUOTE
"Very pleased with our collective performance today," said Head Coach Adrian Dubois. "Colgate is a strong, competitive side that always presents a challenge, and I thought our guys responded really well. We found a way to get the result, which is what matters. Now our focus shifts to recovery, continued improvement, and preparing for another big challenge ahead."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts struck first in the 13th minute when a signature long ball pass from Islam Houssni landed perfectly in front of Luis Fischer who used his left foot to pin the bottom left corner, securing his first goal as a Catamount lifting UVM ahead 1-0.
  • Vermont doubled the lead in the 27th minute after a yellow card on Colgate's Connor Cates resulted in a set piece opportunity for UVM from outside the goalkeeper's box. Noel Bjork took the initial kick, finding Houssni back post who rifled a left foot shot to the bottom right corner. With the goal, Houssni notched his first goal as a Catamount and Bjork picked up his first assist as a Catamount. Vermont took a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
  • David Ismail made it 3-0 in the 70th minute of play when a corner kick from Fischer found him back post where he used his right knee to bury his third goal of the season, earning UVM a three-goal cushion in the second half.
  • The Catamounts weren't done yet, scoring a fourth consecutive goal in the 79th minute of action when Thaddeus Liquori maneuvered around a couple of Raider defenders, using a backheel pass to find Philipp Schmidtke just inside the goalkeeper's box. Schmidtke used his right foot to bring the ball to his left, roping a shot to the top left corner securing his first career goal as a Catamount, earning Vermont the demanding four goal lead.
  • Colgate's Ryan Schachter was able to find the back of the net for the Raiders in the 84th minute of play, but the damage was done as the Catamounts walked away with the 4-1 victory on Sunday afternoon from Virtue Field.
