The University of Vermont celebrated the 50th anniversary of its men's hockey program on November 1-2, 2013.
On Friday night, the Catamounts defeated second-ranked Notre Dame 2-1 in front of a sellout crowd of 4,007 at Gutterson Fieldhouse as the Fighting Irish played its first-ever Hockey East game.
On Saturday, the program hosted an Alumni Game & Family Skate at Gutterson, followed by a luncheon. After the game, more than 300 alumni, family, and friends attended the 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner was held at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel & Conference Center.
The event was hosted by broadcasting legend Gary Thorne and featured comments from athletic director Dr. Robert Corran, president Tom Sullivan, former All-American George Kreiner, former head coach Mike Gilligan, current head coach Kevin Sneddon, and committee chair Ian Boyce.
