SENIOR SEASON (2019): Won the first meet of the season at Hard'Ack Recreation Area with a time of 25:21.0 (Sep. 7) ... Was 62nd in the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown with a time of 25:26.9 (Sep. 20) ... Ran a career-best 8k time of 24:12.8 at the Paul Short Invite, which is the fastest 8k time in UVM history (Oct. 5) ... Finished third in the Fall Foliage Invitational with a time of 25:13.3 (Oct. 19) ... Took 11th for All-Conference Second Team honors at the America East Championships with a time of 24:25.3 (Nov. 2) ... Registered a 10k personal-best at the NCAA Northeast Regionals with a time of 29:58.2 for 55th overall (Nov. 15).
JUNIOR SEASON (2018): Finished 12th in the season opener at Hard'Ack Recreation Area with an 8k time of 26:39.1 (Sep. 1) ... Took second place in the Vermont Fall Foliage Invite with an 8k time of 25:14.2 (Oct. 13) ... Finished ninth in the America East Championship and set an 8k personal-best time of 25:00.6 (Oct. 27) ... Led the Catamounts in the 10k at the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional with a time of 33:57.0 (Nov. 9).
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2017): Ran in all seven races for the Catamounts ... Finishing 24th with a time of 25:59.9 at the Rothenberg Run (10/13) ... Opened the season taking 30th with a time of 26:26.1 at the America East Pre-Conference Meet (9/2).
FRESHMAN SEASON (2016): Ran a time of 26:40.9 at the America East Championships (10/29) ... Helped UVM finish second as a team at the Rothenberg Run (10/14) with a mark of 26:41.9 ... Made his collegiate debut at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown (9/16), clocking in at 16:41 in the 5K open race.
BEFORE UVM: Came to UVM from Needham High School in Massachusetts ... Captained both the cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field teams ... Earned team MVP honors as well as Bay State Conference Cross Country MVP recognition.
PERSONAL: Son of Kim and Rich Benner … Younger brother, James, attends Georgetown University … Father, Rich, ran track & field and cross country at Lafayette College ... Mother, Kim, qualified for and competed in the 1996 US Olympic Marathon Trials in Columbia, SC. … Chose UVM for three reasons: Maple syrup, dirt roads, and Joe Gingras … His secret talent is the ability to summon owls while birding … Double majoring in Wildlife Biology and Natural Resources.
