During her first season as an assistant, she helped work with the goalkeepers. Merle Vaandrager and Ila Gunner were the Catamounts' primary goalies last year. Vaandrager ranked nationally in goals against average (13th) and save percentage (9th), both marks led the conference. She also became the single-season leader in shutouts (7), and her nine wins are the sixth most in a single season. The combination posted a .733 save percentage with 88 saves and 32 goals allowed with a 1.58 goals against average.

Buffenbarger, a Leesburg, Va. native, was a five-year starter for the Catamounts and sits second in career games played with 81.  Buffenbarger finished her career with a total of seven goals and nine assists. In her four-year career as a Catamount, she totaled 4,878 minutes played.
