RED-SHIRT SENIOR SEASON (2013-14): Received the John C. Cunningham Award as the team's MVP for the second straight season ... Served as a co-captain ... Finished his career tied for 30th on the UVM all-time scoring list with 114 points on 46 goals and 68 assists ... Skated in exactly 150 games during his five-year career, the third highest total in program history ... Led the team and ranked seventh in Hockey East with a career-high 42 points ... Ranked top-10 in the league in both goals (18) and assists (24) ... Had a plus-16 rating in 38 games and ranked fourth in Hockey East with 140 shots on goal ... RED-SHIRT JUNIOR SEASON (2012-13): Served as an assistant captain for the second straight campaign ... Named a Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star, becoming the eighth Catamount to earn the honor ... Also received the league's Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award after taking just five penalties all season ... Played in all 36 games and led the team in goals (13), assists (18), and points (31), setting new career-highs in all three categories ... Also led the team with 25 points in 27 league games ... Ranked 15th in Hockey East in overall scoring and seventh in the league with a team-high 125 shots on goal ... Registered seven multi-point games and a plus-4 rating on the year ... Had two separate five-game point streaks with seven points in each streak ... Scored two game-winning goals and had the assist on four game-winning tallies ... Posted a pair of assists against Providence (Nov. 2) for his first points of the season ... Had two goals in a 3-2 win over Northeastern at home (Nov. 18) ... JUNIOR SEASON (2011-12): McCarthy entered the season as a top-6 forward but skated in only five games before suffering a season-ending injury (shoulder) ... Served as the team's assistant captain ... Posted four points on a goal and three assists ... Had three points (1 G, 2 A) in his first game of the season at No. 8 Minnesota (Oct. 23) in a 5-4 Vermont upset win ... Named to the Hockey East Top Peformer List the following day ... Posted an assist at Providence (Nov. 4) before playing his final contest of the season the following night against the Friars.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2010-11): McCarthy played in all 36 games for the Catamounts and was named to the Hockey East Top Performer list on two occasions (Nov. 8 and Feb. 14) … Finished second on the team in points with 20 (8 G, 12 A) … His eight goals ranked second on the team … Had a goal and an assist in UVM’s win over No. 8 Boston College (Nov. 13) … Scored a power-play goal in a 3-2 loss to No. 8 Boston College (Nov. 12) ... Had a six-point weekend with a goal and five assists at No. 18 Maine (Feb. 11-12) … Had a four-point weekend (1 G, 3 A) to go along with nine shots on goal against UMass Lowell (March 3-4) ... Had a goal at UML (Nov. 5) ... Provided a power play goal against Northeastern (Nov. 26) ... Netted the game-winning goal against Providence (Feb. 5) ... Had 91 shots on goal.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2009-10): McCarthy finished second on the team in rookie scoring with six goals and 11 assists for 17 points … Posted a plus-2 rating and had 48 shots … Named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week (Oct. 19) on one occasion and was named to the Hockey East Top Performer list once (Nov. 9) … Scored a goal and added an assist in his collegiate debut against No. 12 Boston College at Gutterson Fieldhouse in a game televised on ESPNU … Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week for his performance … Notched a goal and an assist in a 3-0 shutout at home against Providence on Nov. 8 ... Scored a goal in a 3-2 win at No. 16 Boston College on Nov. 15 .. Had a goal in a 3-3 tie at Boston University on Dec. 4 … Scored a goal in a 4-3 win against Dartmouth on Dec. 19 … Registered a goal in a 5-1 win at Providence on Feb. 5 … Capped off a stretch of recording at least one point in five of six games with an assist in a 7-3 victory against No. 20 Boston University on Feb. 26 at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

BEFORE VERMONT: McCarthy was a member of the United States National Under-18 Team in 2008-09 ... He notched 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 42 games ... McCarthy scored a goal for the U.S. U-18 Team against Vermont at Gutterson Fieldhouse in December of that season.
