FROM THE COACH: "Dan’s imposing size combined with his offensive abilities makes him a top defenseman for us. We’re looking for Dan to have his best year as a senior and help lead the team to reach its’ goals." -Kevin Sneddon

AS A SENIOR (2010-11):
Lawson played in all 36 games scoring a goal and handing out eight assists for nine points … Provided a pair of assists in a 2-1 win over Massachusetts (Jan. 21) … Registered two helpers in the senior night win over UML (March 5) … Scored a power-play goal in a 1-1 tie against No. 9 Denver (Oct. 9) … Led all defenders with 61 shots on goal … Had five assists on the power play unit.

AS A JUNIOR (2009-10): Lawson played in 30 games and had five points (1g, 4a) … Had 56 shots … Had an assist in a 9-2 win versus Northeastern at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Jan. 16 … Scored a goal and had an assist in a 3-2 loss to top-seeded Wisconsin in the NCAA West Regional at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on March 26.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2008-09):
Lawson played in all 39 games and led all Vermont defenseman in scoring with eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points … His plus-17 rating tied for the team lead … Had four power-play goals and a pair of game winners … Had five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 27 Hockey East games … Earned the team’s Most Improved Player Award … Had 69 shots on goal … Scored a goal and had an assist in a 4-3 victory at No. 2 Boston University on Nov. 22 … Scored six goals in the final nine games of the season … Had a goal in a 3-2 win at Maine on Feb. 27 … Had two goals and an assist in a weekend split against No. 9 New Hampshire at Gutterson Fieldhouse on March 6 and 7 … Scored in a 4-3 loss to UMass-Lowell in the Hockey East Quarterfinals on March 13 … Picked up an assist in a 4-1 win against No. 5 Yale in the opening round of the NCAA East Regional in Bridgeport, Conn. … Scored a pair of goals including the game winner in double overtime in a 3-2 victory over No. 18 Air Force in the NCAA East Regional Championship game … Lawson’s game winner against the Falcons was ruled a goal after a 12-minute review by the officials determined that his shot had gone through the net … Was named the Most Outstanding Player of the East Regional and was named Co-Hockey East Player of the Week (March 30) for his performance.

AS A FRESHMAN (2007-08): Lawson played in 15 games and had four goals and two assists for six points … All six of his points came in 10 Hockey East games … Led all Vermont defenseman with a plus-3 rating … Recorded 24 shots … Named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team … Recorded the first point of his career in a 4-2 loss at Northeastern on Nov. 9 … Scored the first goal of his career in a 5-4 win against Boston University on Nov. 17 … Notched a goal in a 5-5 tie at Maine on Nov. 25 … Had an assist in a 1-0 win over No. 18 UMass-Lowell on Feb. 23 … Recorded a pair of goals, including the game winner in a 4-3 victory at No. 3 New Hampshire on March … Named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week for his performance … The victory was the first for Vermont at the Whittemore Center since Oct. 19, 1996.

BEFORE VERMONT: Lawson had 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points in 59 games with the Chicago Steel and the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League last season ... He was selected to the 2007 USHL All-Star game and represented the league at the USA Hockey Junior Jamboree ... He was fourth among USHL defenseman in goals and eighth in power-play goals with five.
