AS A SENIOR (2010-11): Downing played in all 36 games for the Catamounts and led the team with 13 goals to go along with five assists for 18 points ...  Had 98 shots on goal … Finished tied for 16th in the nation in short-handed goals with two … His three game-winning goals were ranked 39th in the country … Scored the game-winning goal against Northeastern (Jan. 14) … One week later scored his sixth career game-winning goal against UMass (Jan. 21) … Provided the game-winner and a second goal at No. 18 Maine (Feb. 11) … Had a four-point weekend (3g, 1a) at No. 18 Maine (Feb 11/12) ... Had three multi-point games ... Had a four-game stretch with five goals (Feb. 5–Feb. 18).

AS A JUNIOR (2009-10): Downing played in 36 of 39 games and finished tied for fourth on the team in scoring with nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points … Had 69 shots, four power-play goals and two game winners … Named to the Hockey East Top Performer List on one occasion … Scored a goal and had an assist in a 5-4 loss at No. 1 Denver on Oct. 9 … Had a power-play goal in a 6-4 victory against the Pioneers the following night … Recorded a pair of assists in a 4-1 win at home against No. 12 Boston College on Oct. 18 … Had an assist in a 3-3 tie against No. 8 UMass-Lowell on Nov. 6 at Gutterson Fieldhouse … Scored a goal in a 3-2 victory at Northeastern on Nov. 27 … Had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 victory against Dartmouth at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Dec. 19 … Scored the game-winning goal in the opening round of the Sheraton/TD Bank Catamount Cup against Alabama-Huntsville on Jan. 2 … Posted a goal and an assist in a 9-2 victory against Northeastern on Jan. 16 at Gutterson Fieldhouse … Had two assists in a 4-4 tie versus No. 19 Maine at home on Jan. 30 … Recorded a goal in a 2-2 tie against Merrimack on Feb. 12 … Notched two assists in a 7-3 victory against No. 20 Boston University on Feb. 26.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2008-09):
Downing played in 34 of 39 games and posted five goals and nine assists for 14 points … Had seven points (3g, 4a) in 27 Hockey East games … Finished with 42 shots and a plus-2 rating … Started the season with two assists in a 4-1 win over RPI in Quebec City on Oct. 11 … Notched a pair of assists in a 4-3 win over No. 7 Miami on Oct. 17 at Gutterson Fieldhouse … Had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win over St. Lawrence in the championship game of the Sheraton/TD Banknorth Catamount Cup on Jan. 3 … Was named to the Catamount Cup All-Tournament Team and to the Hockey East Weekly Honor Roll (Jan. 5) for his effort … Scored a goal and had an assist in a 4-2 win over No. 9 Boston College on Jan. 10 … Scored a third period goal in a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Maine on Feb. 28.

AS A FRESHMAN (2007-08): Downing played in 38 of 39 games … He led all Vermont freshman in scoring with eight goals and 11 points … His seven goals in Hockey East games ranked tied for seventh most among conference rookies … His three power-play goals were tied for second most on the team … Recorded one game-winning goal … Had 51 shots on goal … Was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week on two occasions (Dec. 17 and Jan. 7) and was named to the Hockey East Weekly Honor Roll once … Recorded the first goal of his career in a 4-2 loss at Northeastern on Nov. 9 … Scored the game winner on the power play in overtime and had an assist in 4-3 victory against St. Lawrence on Dec. 15 … Notched a pair of goals in a 2-2 tie at Boston University on Jan. 5 … Scored a power-play goal in a 5-2 loss at No. 12 Boston College on Jan. 11 … Recorded a goal in a 5-4 win at No. 14 UMass on Jan. 25 … Scored twice in a 4-3 overtime loss at No. 11 Providence on Feb. 9 … Had an assist in a 3-1 win over No. 13 Boston U. in the Hockey East Semifinals on March 21 at the TD Banknorth Garden.

BEFORE VERMONT: Downing played for the Omaha Lancers in the United States Hockey League in 2006-07 ... He scored nine goals and five assists for 14 points in 40 games played ... He was also selected to represent the USHL in the inaugural USA Hockey Junior Jamboree ... Prior to joining Omaha, he played at the Taft School in Connecticut during the 2005-06 season and recorded 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 26 games ... His 10 goals at Taft were second on the squad and he helped lead the team to the New England Prep Championship game in 2006 ... Was rated 119th overall by NHL Central Scouting for North American players in 2007.
