The 2013-14 season marks Reyn Garnett's first as an assistant coach with the University of Vermont men's lacrosse program.
Garnett played professionally for the New Jersey Pride and Long Island Lizards in Major League Lacrosse (MLL), and was the 6th overall pick in the first round of the 2009 supplemental draft by the Boston Cannons.
He's a 2006 Graduate of Georgetown University where he played lacrosse for the Hoyas, leading his team to the NCAA Quarterfinals in each of his four years. At Georgetown, Garnett was a two-time All-American, three-time All-ECAC selection, three-time defensive player of the year, team MVP and team captain. In his senior year, Garnett was recognized as one of the 23 nominees for the Tewaaraton Trophy, presented annually to the top lacrosse player in the country. He also played one year of football as a tight end for the Hoyas in 2002.
Garnett recently founded 802 Lacrosse, which is an elite club lacrosse team for middle school and high school athletes here in northern Vermont, coached by many of the areas top coaches.
Garnett earned his bachelor of arts degree in English with a minor in sociology from Georgetown in 2006.
He comes to Vermont after working in finance for eight years in New York City and Boston. He recently moved to Burlington along with his wife, Bernice Garnett, who is a new faculty member in the College of Education and Social Services at UVM.
