Beyond Coaching: Alumnus Fred Fayette, heart of Catamount Nordic program - Vermont Quarterly (Fall 2015)

Fred Fayette, a volunteer assistant nordic coach, is a 1969 graduate of the University of Vermont. Fayette competed on both the alpine and nordic teams while at UVM.

Fayette has been a mainstay with the ski team over the years and has been an invaluable member of the coaching staff, putting in hours of work on a volunteer basis. He enters his 28th season at UVM and was named EISA Coach of the Year by his peers in 1990. He earned the EISA Service Award in 2008.

Fayette has coached 94 NCAA All-Americans and has been a part of four national championship teams at Vermont. He has coached 16 individual national champions, including Thorodd Bakken '98 and Laura Wilson '91. Both won four individual national championships in their careers.

Fayette lives in Milton, Vermont with his wife, Susan.
