BEFORE VERMONT: VanderZalm hails from Pelham, Ontario and is the fourth Canadian recruit for the Catamounts in the program's history ... She came to Vermont from Notre Dame College in Welland, Ontario ... As a freshman she tallied 81 points, setting a new rookie school record, and Notre Dame finished the year ranked sixth in Ontario ... As a sophomore she totaled 138 points, again setting a school record and led Notre Dame to a No. 2 ranking in Ontario and the silver medal at the Ontario High School Championships ... As a junior she surpassed her own school record with 145 goals and 60 assists for 205 points ... Notre Dame finished the year ranked No. 1 in Ontario and the team won the gold medal at the Ontario High School Championships ... A two-time team MVP, VanderZalm is a three-time All-Midwest and Midwest Schoolgirls Lacrosse Tournament selection ... In 2012 Vanderzalm led Notre Dame to a 25-0 mark and a gold medal at the Ontraio High School Championships and the Midwestern Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association Tournament ... She tallied 194 points (123 goals, 71 assists) as a senior and recorded 618 career points ... VanderZalm served as a team captain as a senir and was named the team's MVP ... She was named to the All-Midwest and All-Great Lakes team at the MSLA Tournament ... She was also selected to teh 2012 Canadian Senior Women's squad that participated in the North American Challenge Cup (July 13-15, 2012).
