Cathy Seward enters her 10th season as the diving coach at the University of Vermont in 2020-21. Seward joined the UVM coaching staff in 2011.

In 2019-20, Seward helped the divers lead Vermont to its eighth straight third place finish at the America East Conference Championship. Junior diver Emily Murphy earned team Athlete of the Year awards after placing third on the three-meter board to earn All-Conference honors. Murphy earned America East diver of the week honors four times in 2019-20. Freshman diver Olenka Duncan was named the team's Most Improved Diver after taking eighth on the three-meter board at the conference championship.

In 2017-18, she helped freshman Emily Murphy earn All-Conference diving honors in her America East debut with second place in the 1-meter dive. Murphy and classmate Haley Tomlinson combined to win the America East Female Diver of the Week Award five times during the 2017-18 campaign. 

At the 2015 America East Championships, Seward helped guide Maggie Preston to the America East title in the 3-meter diving event as she became the first-ever Catamount to collect the Most Outstanding Diver Award. In 2016, Preston won the 1-meter dive title and placed second overall in the 3-meter event. 

Seward is a graduate of Bucknell University, where she was an All-American (small college division) diver for both the 1- and 3-meter events as a senior. She was inducted into the Bucknell Hall of Fame in 1993 and was the diving coach at St. Michael's College for 13 seasons before joining the Catamounts.
