BURLINGTON, Vt. – England native Dani Lozzi (pronounced Lot-zi) is the final member of
Chris Day's recruiting class for the upcoming 2017-18 women's basketball season.
The 5'10 Lozzi comes to Burlington from The College of Richard Collyer in her hometown of Horsham. After finishing as national finalists in 2016 with a 2-point loss in overtime, she won the 2017 Under-18 Women Basketball England National League Championship.
She was one steal away from posting a quadruple double in the semifinal with 13 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and nine steals, and nearly registered a triple double in the title game.
Lozzi ranked fourth in the league with 2.3 steals per game and averaged 2.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds per contest. She led England by shooting 33-percent from 3-point range in the 2015 Division A U-16 European Championships. Lozzi also won team titles at the 2014 and 2015 U-16 Sureshot National Cup, claiming the MVP award in 2014.
She joins Kianna Funderburk, Carmen Handy and Josie Larkins as newcomers to the program.
