| Follow @UVMfieldhky | Follow @UVMathleticsDURHAM, N.H. – Lynne Lehman and Lindsey Nerbonne registered two goals each to lead New Hampshire past Vermont, 5-1, in America East field hockey action Friday at Memorial Field.

New Hampshire (4-10, 2-1 AE) tallied a pair of goals in the opening ten minutes of the contest to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Lehman notched her first goal of the game on a low shot from the top of the circle in the eighth minute of play to give UNH the early advantage.

Just over two minutes later, Nerbonne received a pass from Kellie Joyce and scored from a few yards out to extend the UNH advantage to two goals.

Vermont (1-13, 1-2 AE) and UNH were held scoreless for the remainder of the half, as the Wildcats took a two-goal lead into the break.

New Hampshire netted three more goals in the opening 13 minutes of the second period to open its advantage to 5-0. Lehman and Nerbonne collected a goal apiece during the run.
In the final seconds of regulation, Vermont earned a penalty corner attempt. The Catamounts worked the ball around to freshman
Jackie Gillen at the top of the circle, where she fired a shot that beat UNH goalie Carlie Tarbell for her first career goal. Rookie
Taylor Gaines collected the assist on the play.

Tarbell earned the win in goal for the Wildcats, and freshman
Lena Benwood suffered the loss for the Catamounts despite making seven saves.

The Catamounts return home for a tilt against Davidson on Sunday (Oct. 19) at 12 p.m. UVM will be celebrating Senior Day and will honor its three seniors with a pregame ceremony.
