VERMONT MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK | CaTV Preview The 10th-ranked Vermont men's hockey team (6-1-1, 4-1-1 HEA) hits the road this weekend for a two-game Hockey East series against No. 16 Providence (3-4-1, 2-2-0 HEA) at 7 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 14) and Saturday (Nov. 15) at Schneider Arena. Both games will be televised by COX Sports on OSN, located on channels 5 and 1005 HD on COX Cable in Rhode Island. A live video stream is available for $5 per game via COXHub.com (links above). TOP-10 ONCE AGAINThe Catamounts cracked the top-10 in this week's USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey polls for the first time this season. Vermont is a top-10 nationally ranked program for the first time since Oct. 26, 2009, the season after the program's second Frozen Four berth. UVM entered the USCHO.com poll at No. 17 on Oct. 20 after a sweep of Clarkson. Vermont ranks sixth nationally in team defense with a 1.62 goals against average and junior goalie
Brody Hoffman (5-0-1) is tied for fourth in winning percentage at .917. The Cats also rank sixth in both penalty killing at 92.9-percent and team discipline with just 8.0 penalty minutes per game.

Mike Paliotta point shot at the 3:13 mark of overtime to lead Vermont to a come-from-behind 4-3 Hockey East victory over Maine in front of a sell out crowd of 4,007.
Mario Puskarich's wrist shot with an extra skater tied the game at three with just 59 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Colin Markison scored a pair of goals in the second period as Vermont roared back from a two-goal deficit after the first 20 minutes. Hoffman finished with 21 saves to remain unbeaten in net.

Alexx Privitera each posted multi-point games, while Stenerson finished the weekend with five points.
Jonathan Turk also netted his second game-winning goal of the season. The Catamounts out-shot the Black Bears 31-18 on the night and held Maine to just two shots on goal in the third period. Vermont rebounded on the penalty kill with a 5-for-5 performance.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS | WebsiteProvidence split a two-game Hockey East series with Merrimack last weekend, winning 3-2 on Friday at home before a 1-0 road shutout loss on Saturday. Trevor Mingoia leads the team with five points, Nick Saracino paces the squad with three goals, and Anthony Florentino has collected a team-high four assists. Calgary Flames draft pick Jon Gillies has started all eight games in net with a 3-4-1 record, 2.57 goals against average, and .917 save percentage. Nate Leaman enters his fourth season as the head coach after leading PC to a 22-win campaign and a berth in the NCAA Tournament last year.
SERIES HISTORYThis weekend marks the 54th and 55th all-time meetings in series history as Vermont holds a 25-21-7 advantage overall in a series which dates back to 1969. Vermont has a .500 record (9-9-6) in 24 road games against the Friars. UVM is just 1-6-1 in its last eight games against Providence, with the lone win coming in a 2-0 shutout on Nov. 3, 2012 in Burlington. The Catamounts have only played once at Schneider Arena since 2011.
