PHILADELPHIA – The Vermont Catamounts' late rally in the second half fell short as the Saint Joseph's Hawks held off UVM to post a 68-60 win at Hagan Arena in men's basketball action on Saturday. Both teams evened their records to 2-2.
DeAndre' Bembry led all scorers with 22 points and nine rebounds to pace Saint Joseph's. Isaiah Miles added 15 points and Aaron Brown came off the bench to contribute 13 points and five boards.
Hector Harold and
Ethan O'Day netted 10 points each to lead the Catamounts. Harold added five rebounds, while
Dre Wills chipped in eight points and grabbed six boards.

The Catamounts pushed their lead back to eight, 16-8, at the 12:11 mark, but Saint Joseph's answered again, this time with a 19-3 run, capped by a 3-pointer from Miles, to move in front of the Catamounts and take an eight-point lead, 27-19, with 3:24 left in the half. The Hawks went into the locker room up 32-26.
Saint Joseph's scored seven straight points to open the half and led by 14 at the 13:30 mark. The Catamounts rallied, trimming the lead to six on a layup by Wills with 8:48 showing on the clock.
The Hawks moved back out to an 11 point lead, 59-48, with 5:57 remaining, but the Catamounts made one last push, slicing the lead to five with an 8-2 run, fueled by six points from Wills, with 3:23 left. That was as close as UVM would get in the final minutes. Saint Joseph's secured the win going 7-for-8 from the foul line.
Vermont will host Bryant on Wednesday (Nov. 26) at 7 p.m. at Patrick Gymnasium.
