BURLINGTON, Vt. – Trae Bell-Haynes scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Vermont Catamounts to a 61-47 victory over Wagner in non-conference men's basketball action at Patrick Gymnasium on Sunday. Vermont improved to 5-4 overall, while Wagner dripped to 2-6 on the year.
Bell-Haynes went 9-for-10 from the foul line and added six rebounds and four assists.
Dre Wills chipped in 11 points in 17 minutes and
Brandon Hatton added a career-high 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Marcus Burton led all scorers with 22 points to pace Wagner.

Photo Gallery Both teams struggled offensively to start the game, as the score stood at 6-1 in favor of Wagner at the 11:16 mark of the first half.
The Catamounts trailed 13-11 after a 3-pointer by Burton with 7:22 remaining in the stanza. UVM answered with a 14-4 spurt to push out in front by eight, 25-17, with 2:21 left in the half and took a 27-22 lead into the locker room.
Vermont opened the second half scoring 10 straight points, punctuated by a dunk from Wills, to push its advantage to 15, 37-22, at the 16:15 mark.
Wagner out scored Vermont 18-6 over the next 10 minutes to climb back within three, 43-40, with 6:45 left in the contest. Bell-Haynes and Hatton hit back-to-back jumpers to push UVM back in front by seven and the Catamounts closed out the game out scoring Wagner 18-7 to secure the win.
Vermont closes out its four-game homestand on Thursday (Dec. 18) when the Catamounts host Yale at 7 p.m.
