BUFFALO, N.Y. – Alyssa Gorecki, who will be a freshman with the women's hockey team next season, was named to the 2015 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team Wednesday.

Gorecki, a Monee, Ill. native, will represent the U.S at the 2015 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship, set for January 5-12 at HARBORCENTER in Buffalo, New York.

Gorecki currently plays for the Chicago Mission Girls U19 team, which is 35-4-0 so far this season. Gorecki played last season on the Mission with current Catamounts
Bella Webster and
Taylor Willard.

"We are thrilled that Alyssa will represent the USA at the U-18 World Championships and even more excited that she will be joining our program next fall," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "She is a strong two-way player and I am confident that she will be effective in this role on the international stage.Â

Gorecki will be the sixth Catamount to represent her country at the U18 World Championships.

Amanda Pelkey,
Klara Myren,
Gina Repaci, and
Taylor Willard all gained international experience before playing at Vermont.
