Vermont tied the game up at 1-1 late in the contest on senior captain
Ashley McDonald's third goal of the season. McDonald received a pass from freshman
Kyra Lee near the post and one-timed a shot past Harvard goalie Issy Davies to even the score with just under 13 minutes to play. The assist was Lee's first point of her Catamount career.
Just over nine minutes into the first overtime period, Cookson closed in on the Vermont goal and took a shot from a few yards out which deflected off a UVM defender's stick and into the back of the net. The overtime tally propelled Harvard to its fourth victory of the season.
Freshman
Lena Benwood earned her first career start in goal for the Catamounts and made a career-high six saves. Davies stopped two shots in net for Harvard to earn her fourth win.
With the victory, Harvard improves to 4-0 on the year, while Vermont drops to 0-6.
Vermont returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 21) for a home game against Quinnipiac at 1 p.m. Live video of the contest will be available for free via
