SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont men's and women's cross country teams easily swept a dual home meet against UMass Lowell on Saturday at Red Rocks Park. The teams combined for just 32 points and posted the top four finishers in each race.

The women swept the top eight spots in the 5K race for 15 points.
Alicia Clark claimed the individual title with a time of 18:15 on the course, five seconds ahead of classmate
Nikki Braceras (18:30) who took second.
Hilary Rawding (18:58),
Julie Richer (19:19), and
Amber Peirsol (19:26) rounded out the squad's top-5.

Sydney Durand followed in sixth place with a time of 19:36, while
Denali Balser posted a nearly identical time for seventh. Rookie
Gemma Del Rossi gave the Catamounts eight straight finishers with a mark of 19:37.

Dylan Souder captured the men's 6K event with a time of 18:52 as he won by 13 seconds over teammate
Patrick Coppinger (19:05).
Dan Moroney placed third overall with a time of 19:14, followed by
Thomas O'Leary just a second later in 19:15 for fourth.

Fletcher Hazlehurst (19:34),
Devin Motivala (19:38), and
Noah Bell (19:44) rounded out the team's top-7 in spots seven through nine as the men's team finished with 17 points to beat the River Hawks by 27.

The Catamounts have next weekend off before traveling to Boston for the 2014 New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 11. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
