BURLINGTON, Vt. – Alex Carpenter, the leading scorer in the NCAA, led the undefeated Boston College Eagles to a 4-0 win over Vermont with two goals and an assist Saturday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Hockey East action.

Carpenter opened the scoring for the Eagles at the 13:06 mark of the first period. Boston College entered the Vermont zone on a two-on-two and Haley Skarupa skated into the slot with speed and fired a cross-crease pass that Carpenter tapped home past Vermont's
Molly Depew for her 22
nd goal of the season. It was the 17
th time this season BC opened the scoring.

The Eagles struck again late in the first period to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room. Kate Leary forced a turnover behind the Vermont net before skating to the far post and feathering a backhand pass to Dana Trivigno who put it in with just six seconds left in regulation.

In the second period the Eagles showcased their transition game to make it 3-0. After forcing a turnover in the neutral zone Kenzie Kent passed up to Carpenter who skated in on a two-on-one with Haley Skarupa. Carpenter passed over to Skarupa and she fired a wrist shot past Depew for her 20
th goal of the season 9:52 into the middle frame.

Carpenter rounded out the scoring in the third period with a wicked wrist shot at the 7:08 mark. Skarupa and Bender collected their second assists of the game on Carpenter's 23
rd goal of the season. Skarupa and Carpenter have tallied a point in every game they have played this season.

Boston College goaltender Katie Burt collected her 18
th win of the season making 21 saves, including two on breakaway attempts by
Brittany Zuback and
Victoria Andreakos, to earn her fifth shutout of the year.

"Honestly, today was one of our better efforts this season," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "We battled hard for 60 minutes and had good stretches of play against a very, very talented team. I am proud of the way we played and look forward to another opportunity tomorrow."

Vermont closes out the two-game series against the Eagles tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. Fans at tomorrow's game will receive a seat cushion courtesy of TD Bank.
