VERMONT MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOKThe 12th-ranked Vermont men's hockey team (15-6-2, 7-4-1 HEA) hosts the No. 3 Boston University Terriers this weekend at Gutterson Fieldhouse in a top-15 Hockey East matchup on Friday (Jan. 23) and Saturday (Jan. 24) at 7:05 p.m. Both games will be streamed for free in high definition via
CatamounTV.com, and radio coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. each night on WVMT 620-AM and

PROMOTIONSOn Friday night, UVM will host a TD Bank Seat Cushion Giveaway and the National Guard, Free Press Media, and Governor's Safety Highway Program will have tables in the main lobby. Saturday is Cat Pride Club Appreciation Day as fans can check in at the promotions table for double points. Fans will also have a chance to see the NCAA Division I and Hockey East Lamoriello trophies on Saturday as part of the Hockey East Road to the Garden. The National Guard, Jiffy Mart, Casella, and Kevin Smith Sports will have tables in the lobby.

UVM is 2-1-0 in its last three meetings with the Terriers, including a 6-2 road win in the schools' last matchup on Jan. 25, 2014 in Boston. The Catamounts are the 12th-ranked team in the nation in this week's USA Today/USA Hockey and USCHO.com Division I polls. This weekend will mark the first top-15 matchup in Burlington since then-No. 14 Vermont hosted top-ranked Boston College last February.
LAST WEEKEND vs. NORTHEASTERNNortheastern skated past UVM 4-1 last Friday in Hockey East action at Gutterson as four different Huskies tallied goals. The Catamounts responded on Saturday night as the schools skated to a 2-2 tie in a non-conference game to wrap up the weekend.

Alexx Privitera also factored in all three UVM goals. Vermont out-shot Northeastern by nine for the weekend and posted a 3-of-10 effort on the power play against NU.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS | WebsiteBoston University fell 4-2 at home to rival Boston College last Friday before coming back to beat UMass Lowell 4-3 in overtime on Sunday. The Terriers rank fourth in the country in scoring margin (1.38), and they sit second overall in combined special teams (57.6-percent). Rookie Jack Eichel leads the nation in scoring with 34 points on 11 goals and 23 assists, while junior Danny O'Regan has scored a team-high 16 goals. Junior goalie Matt O'Connor has made 17 starts in net with an 11-3-3 record, 1.97 goals against average, and .934 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORYThis weekend marks the 73rd and 74th meetings between Vermont and Boston University in the all-time series, which dates back to 1972. UVM has won two of the last three meetings with BU, and each of the last four matchups has been played at Agganis Arena in Boston. Vermont hasn't hosted Boston University at Gutterson since Nov. 16, 2012. The Catamounts snapped an eight-game winless streak (0-7-1) against the Terriers two years ago with a 5-2 road win on Mar. 2, 2013.
PRIVITERA FACES FAMILIAR FOEAlexx Privitera, who played the first two years of his NCAA career at Boston University, faces his former team for the first time this weekend. Privitera skated in 48 career games for the Terriers from 2011-13 and tallied 20 assists and six goals, including a game-winner at Gutterson in 2012. The junior ranks sixth in the league in defensive scoring with 15 points and sits seventh overall with a team-high 38 blocked shots.
PALIOTTA NAMED SENIOR CLASS CANDIDATEOn Wednesday, captain
Mike Paliotta was selected as one of twenty candidates for the 2014-15 Senior CLASS Award, which honors a Division I senior with notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. Paliotta leads Vermont in scoring with 21 points, which ranks second among all Hockey East defensemen behind Notre Dame's Robbie Russo. The senior ranks sixth overall in the NCAA in defensive scoring.
TWO-HEADED MONSTER IN NETUVM is one of only two teams in the nation (Merrimack) with two goalies who qualify in minutes played and both own a goals against average below 2.00.
Mike Santaguida ranks second in the country in both goals against average (1.51) and save percentage (.944) with just 15 goals allowed in his 11 appearances.
Brody Hoffman is fifth in the nation with a .786 winning percentage (10-2-2), and he ranks 14th overall with a 1.97 goals against average in 14 starts.
