CatamounTV PostgameÂ
Vermont thought it had taken the lead in the second half of the first period, but a goal was called back after video review for goaltender interference.
Travis Blanleil fired a shot from the right circle that deflected past Thatcher Demko, but the officials ruled that
Mike Paliotta didn't allow the goalie to defend his position.
Â
Nick Luukko had an earlier chance on Demko, but the sophomore closed his pads for a key save with Luukko bearing down on a breakaway from the blue line. UVM out-shot Boston College 10-5 in the opening 20 minutes.
Â
The UVM penalty kill took over in the second period, killing off four straight Boston College power plays. Included in those opportunities were two abbreviated 5-on-3's and a 4-on-3 as Hoffman and the defensive unit kept the game scoreless.
Â
Privitera finally tallied the game's first goal at 2:53 of the final frame. The freshman collected a stretch pass down the middle of the ice from his older brother
Alexx Privitera and skated in alone on Demko. Privitera wristed a shot on goal and it trickled through Demko's pads for the only goal of the night.
Mike Stenerson nearly doubled the lead but narrowly missed the net wide right on a 2-on-1 with
Colin Markison. Stenerson had another look on a point shot off the post from Paliotta, but Demko dove across his crease to rob the sophomore with his glove.
Â
BC called timeout with 1:48 remaining in regulation and pulled Demko for an extra skater with an offensive zone faceoff. UVM cleared the zone, but Alex Tuch nearly tied the game as he rung the left post with a wrister from the left circle.
Â
Vermont blocked a late Noah Hanafin shot from the center point and sent the puck to center ice as time expired to hang on for the victory.
