BURKE, Vt. - Fresh off racing at the NCAA Ski Championships in Lake Placid, New York last weekend, Vermont freshman
Laurence St. Germain placed second overall in the slalom race at the North American Cup at Burke Mountain on Sunday to lead the Catamount alpine team.

St. Germain posted a pesonal best result with a time of 1:42.91 and had the best second run of the afternoon (51.97). She finished 0.19 seconds behind Paula Moltzan, the World Junior Slalom Champion.

Kristina Riis-Johannessen added a sixth place finish in the race, posting a time of 1:44.16. Riis-Johannessen also finished eighth in the giant slalom race on Friday to open the series of races, while St. Germain was 12th.
The North American Cup continues with more racing tomorrow at Burke Mountain for the women. The Vermont men's alpine team is also competing at the Nor-Am Cup races in Waterville Valley, N.H.
