LYME, N.H. – Morgan Megarry and
Laurence St. Germain returned the UVM ski team and the EISA Circuit this week and promptly won their first races of the year to lead the UVM alpine team to wins in the team standings in the giant slalom races to open the Dartmouth Carnival.

Complete Results Behind a strong first day of racing by the alpine team, Vermont (251 points) owns a 40-point lead over New Hamphire (211 points) heading into the second day of racing. Dartmouth stands in third place with 205 points.
Day two of the Dartmouth Carnival will feature the slalom races and the Nordic teams will also compete in the classic races at Craftsbury. There is only one day of Nordic races at the Dartmouth Carnival this year and they are worth double points for the teams.
Megarry recently returned to UVM after competing in Europe with Team Canada where he earned a World Cup start in the Super G race at Kitzbuehel. Skiing for the Catamounts for the first time since the 2013 season, Megarry opened the race with the fastest first run (54.88) and held on for the win with a combined time of 1:49.32.
The Catamounts finished 1-3-4, with
Dom Garand (1:50.16) earning runner-up honors for the third straight race.
Max Roeisland swept the alpine races at the UVM Carnival two weeks ago and finished fourth (1:50.17). Middlebury's Robert Cone spoiled a Catamount sweep of the podium, finishing third with a time of 1:49.83.
St. Germain spent the first half of the season training with Team Canada in Europe on the World Cup ski tour. She was the only skier in the field to post two runs under 57 seconds and led wire-to-wire. She finished the day with a two-run total of 1:53.50, beating out Colby's Mardene Haskell (1:53.74) and New Hampshire's Lisa Wedsjoe (1:54.34).
Elise Tefre added a seventh place finish, her second top-10 finish in her second race of the year.
Mille Graesdal rounded out UVM's top three scorers with a ninth place finish.
