BURLINGTON, Vt. – The University of Vermont athletic program ranked among the top programs in the country in the Capital One Cup standings. Capital One Financial Corporation announced the official updated standings for the Capital One Cup, which is awarded each year to the best men's and women's NCAA Division I athletic programs in the country. Vermont's women's program ranked 68th, while the men's program finished 79th among all Division I programs in the nation for the 2014-15 season.

Junior Dom Garand won a national championship at the NCAA Ski Championships, the Catamounts produced 13 All-Americans, eight America East Champions in track and field, 56 all-conference honorees and 39 all-region selections in 2014-15.
The highlights from the women's programs included: Maggie Preston became the first Catamount to win America East Most Outstanding Diver honors, leading Vermont to a third place finish, the best in program history; the women's hockey team earned a Hockey East Playoff berth for the third consecutive season and the women's lacrosse team advanced to the America East Semifinals for the third straight season.
The men's highlights included: the men's soccer team earned an America East playoff berth for the 10th time in 11 years and advanced to the semifinals; the men's hockey team earned a trip to the Hockey East Semifinals at the TD Garden; the men's basketball team posted its seventh straight 20-win season and earned its seventh consecutive postseason berth; the Catamounts hosted their first-ever postseason game at Patrick Gymnasium in the CBI Quarterfinals and moved onto the semifinals for the first time in program history; the men's lacrosse team also advanced to the America East Semifinals and head coach
Ryan Curtis was named the America East Coach of the Year.
Additionally, the Vermont ski team won its fifth straight EISA Championship and the 35th in school history. The Catamounts completed the EISA Circuit unbeaten for the 19th time since 1979 and will enter the 2016 season having won 21 straight carnivals.
The 2014-15 campaign marks the fourth straight year the Catamounts have been ranked among the top 100 athletic programs in the country.
