FINAL SCORE: Vermont 2, Sacred Heart 0HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The University of Vermont field hockey team picked up its first win of the season with a 2-0 win over Sacred Heart on Sunday at Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. The Catamounts improve to a 1-1 record, while Sacred Heart falls to 1-1.

Lauren Tucker's goal, her second of the season, to give UVM a 1-0 lead.

Tucker struck again in the 69th minute on a double rebound to push Vermont's lead to two goals. Tucker tallied three of Vermont's four goals in the opening weekend.
Lena Benwood was credited with six saves in the Vermont net to pick up the shutout, while Mary Altepeter made seven saves for Sacred Heart.
UVM returns to Moulton Winder Field for its home opener against Rider University on Sunday (Sept. 6). Game time is set for 1 p.m. The game will be streamed for free via the America East Digital Network at AmericaEast.tv.
