BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Rider University Broncs defeated Vermont 6-1 behind goals from four different players in a non-conference field hockey matchup Sunday afternoon at Moulton Winder Field.

Carlota Alsina and Carlie Spaeder were able to connect with Allison Baligian for back-to-back Rider goals, followed by another from Angie Price lifting the Broncs 3-0 over UVM before the end of the half. The teams went an even 6-6 in first half shots.
 
When action resumed, Angie Price sent another low shot into the back of the net, giving Rider a 4-0 advantage.
Molly Higgins put Vermont on the board with its lone goal of the game in the 47th minute. The assist came from freshman Lauren Tucker.
 
Late in the second half, Alsina and Kesheal Henderson notched a goal apiece to seal the victory. Rider goalkeeper Joelle Prettyman was credited with the win, while UVM goalie Lena Benwood tallied a save.
 
Vermont falls to a record of 1-2 while Rider improves to 3-0.

UVM heads back on the road for a pair of contests in Ann Arbor, Michigan next weekend. The Catamounts will face the Michigan Wolverines on Friday (Sept. 11) at 6 p.m. and Davidson on Saturday (Sept. 12) at 4 p.m. Vermont returns to Moulton Winder Field shortly after for a home match against Holy Cross on September 16 at 3 p.m.
