Kate Pfeifer returned to her alma mater for a match against the No. 16 University of Michigan Wolverines Friday night. U-M clinched the victory at Ocker Field in a 3-1 decision.

The Catamounts struck first in the fifth minute as junior
Anne-Marie Farmer netted the opening goal of the match. Farmer picked off a loose ball in Michigan territory to put it past U-M goalkeeper Sam Swenson for her first goal of the season.

Lena Benwood made two back-to-back saves shortly after, but Mackenzie Ellis snuck a high shot into the corner to tie it up 1-1 in the tenth minute.
Benwood remained a strong force in the goal for UVM as she recorded eight saves on 12 Michigan shots. The teams went into the halftime locker room tied at one.

Moments into the second half, Michigan's Maggie Bettez sent a low, outside pass to Courtney Enge for a tipped shot into the goal. In the 49th minute, Emma Way came up on the right and sent the ball to Shannon Scavelli for a quick touch into the net for a 3-1 advantage.

Despite a late effort by
Taylor Gaines and
Aria Robinson with a shot apiece, Michigan was able to secure the win. Benwood was
credited with 14 saves and Michigan's Sam Swenson finished with two saves.

Vermont falls to 1-3, while Michigan improves to 3-2.
UVM returns to Ocker Field tomorrow to face Davidson. Game time is set for 4 p.m. The Catamounts head home to Moulton Winder Field for a matchup against Holy Cross next Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 3 p.m.
