FINAL SCORE: Davidson 8, Vermont 1ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Vermont fell to the Davidson Wildcats Saturday afternoon in a 8-1 decision behind goals from five different players in a non-conference matchup in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Davidson received goals from four different players in the first half as it took a 5-0 lead into halftime. Melissa Funsten and Anna Davis capped off the period with a goal each in the final two minutes to extend the Wildcats' lead.

Katherine English and Paige Albert opened the second half with a goal each in the 43rd and 45th minutes, giving them a 7-0 advantage.

Molly Higgins notched Vermont's lone goal of the game on an outside assist from
Lauren Tucker in the 60th minute, followed by Davidson's Emily Morgan tipping in the final goal to lift the Wildcats to victory.

Lena Benwood was credited with four saves. Vermont falls to 1-4 while Davidson improves to 2-2.
The Catamounts begin a three-game home stand with a match against Holy Cross on Wednesday Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. UVM will then host the Catamount Classic next weekend (Sept. 19-20) at Moulton Winder Field. Vermont will face Cornell on Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. and Siena on Sept. 20 in a noon matchup.
