For the second straight afternoon the Terriers opened the scoring with an even strength tally 2:16 into the first period.  Davis a freshman forward took a feed from Lillian Ribeirinha-Braga and skated into the slot before pushing a backhand shot past Vermont's Molly Depew for her ninth goal of the season. Samantha Sutherland was credited with the secondary assist on the goal.

Davis struck again with 5:10 left in the first period to put Boston University ahead 2-0. After an extended period of offensive zone pressure Davis received a pass in the corner from Braga. Davis skated along the outside of the faceoff circle before cutting to the net and firing a wrist shot past Depew. Once again Sutherland was credited with the secondary assist.

Early in the second period the Terriers extended their lead to three as Sutherland picked up her sixth goal of the season. Vermont cleared a loose rebound in front of its net to the corner and Sutherland gathered the puck and skated out front before firing a shot through traffic and off the post and in at the 3:17 mark.

Vermont got one back 65 seconds later as Cassidy Campeau scored her first goal of the season. Mackenzie MacNeil centered a feed towards the net and Campeau fought through a couple of BU defenders to get a shot off. Campeau's shot deflected off one of the defenders sticks and over the goaltender's shoulder.

Reenergized after Campeau's tally the Catamounts dialed up their fore-check and were rewarded with another even strength tally. Sarah Kelly fired a shot towards Boston's Victoria Hanson that never made it through, Bridget Baker flicked the rebound towards the net and it deflected off the post and lay in the crease. Kourtney Menches cut to the net during the play and was rewarded as she poked the puck in for her first career goal.

The Terriers pushed the lead back to three with two goals early in the third period. From the point Alexis Crossley rifled a pass from Rebecca Russo past Depew for her second goal of the season 4:18 into the third. Just 26 seconds later Davis completed her hat trick at the 4:44 mark.
The Terriers Dakota Woodworth closed out the scoring with 6:50 left in regulation. The senior forward picked up her fifth goal of the season with assists to Jordan Juron and Rebecca Leslie.

In her first start of 2016 Depew made 20 saves for the Catamounts. Hanson picked up her fifth win of the season making 23 saves.

"The third period was an uncharacteristically poor one for us and it's disappointing that we let the momentum of the second period got to waste," said head coach Jim Plumer. "BU is a talented team and they capitalized on our poor attention to detail."

The Catamounts return to action next weekend as they travel to Chestnut Hill for a two-game series against No. 1 Boston College. Vermont will face off with the Eagles, who are undefeated this season, at 7 p.m. on Friday night and then again at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
