Catamounts keeper
Lena Benwood marked the scoresheet with two saves in the first two minutes. After the Black Bears were awarded an early penalty corner, Benwood turned aside Samantha Wagg's ensuing shot as well as another attempt shortly thereafter by Libby Riedl.
The Black Bears were first to get on the scoreboard, taking a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute. Casey Crowley took a feed from Sydney Veljacic on the right side of the circle, netting her eighth goal of the season.
Vermont needed little time to respond, tying the score at one-piece a minute later.
Lauren Tucker played the ball near the center line, sending it into traffic towards the circle. After a scramble,
Greer Wilson corralled the loose ball, firing from the center of the circle and seeing it sail home on a redirection in front of the cage.
Crowley helped Maine regain a 2-1 lead soon after, burying a chance from the top of the circle in the 50th minute. Velijacic collected her second assist of the afternoon during the sequence.
Warren's goal was the end result of a play that began with
Isabella Sericolo. The freshman sent a pass to
Carla Godsman, who dribbled inside the 25-yard line and found Warren on the right side of the circle. Warren then went 1-on-1 with Maine goalkeeper Emily Corbett and poked the ball past her for the game-tying tally.
The Black Bears sealed the victory on Mosky's overtime goal after a setup by Danielle Aviani. Aviani dribbled towards the cage, then flipped the ball over the shoulder of Benwood, allowing Mosky to deflect it in.
Benwood finished the day with four saves for UVM, while Corbett and starter Emma Cochran totaled two stops for Maine in a combined effort.
With the win, Maine improves to 10-4 and 3-1 in America East action. The Catamounts are now 6-8 (0-4 America East).
The Catamounts are back in action tomorrow morning as the squad faces California in a non-conference, neutral-site match at 11 a.m. at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex.
