UVM's inspired defense forced 23 turnovers and produced 26 points off turnovers on the other end of the floor. The Citadins shot just 36.4% (8-for-22) from long range and 43.1% (22-for-51) from the floor.

Anthony Lamb got his first taste of UVM hoops as the freshman posted a game-high 25 points. Lamb shot 5-of-6 from the floor and 13-of-16 from the charity stripe. The Catamounts made a total of 52 trips to the free throw line in the win.

Payton Henson scored 15 points for Vermont on 4-of-7 shooting and made six attempts at the line. Trae Bell-Haynes added 13 points, three steals, and a pair of assists to the Catamounts' offense. Kurt Steidl used a balanced attack to chart 12 points by sinking a pair of shots from long range, driving into the paint, and making all four attempted free throws.

UQAM had three players reach double figures as Christian Kadima led the way with 14 points. Misi Boye contributed 13 points off the bench and Greishe Clerjuste followed with 11 points and 4 assists.

The first half was very close throughout the full 20 minutes. The Catamounts produced a double digit lead with 7:24 left before halftime, but UQAM managed to crawl back into the game and only face a 33-31 deficit at the break.

The Catamounts could not seem to pull away from the Citadins until midway through the second half. Leading 50-48 with 11:25 to go, Vermont mounted a 39-14 run to close out the game.

The exhibition win marked the season opener for the Catamounts and part one of a two-game exhibition match to start the 2016-17 season. UQAM came into the contest with 16 preseason games already under its belt.

Vermont returns to the court on Saturday, November 5 to host Division II foe Saint Michael's College at 7 p.m. in a friendly exhibition. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at UVMathletics.com/Tickets or at the Patrick Gym Box Office on gameday.
