Kevin Irwin and
Max Daigle are tied for the team-lead with four assists apiece. Rookie goaltender
Stefanos Lekkas ranks seventh in the country with a 1.68 goals against average and eighth with a .930 save percentage. UVM plays 11 of its next 13 games at Gutterson Fieldhouse.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Rookie
Matt Alvaro's third goal of the season with 5:14 left in the third period pushed Vermont past UMass 2-1 on Saturday night in Hockey East action to close out a four-game road trip at the Mullins Center. The Catamounts extended their unbeaten streak against the Minutemen to nine games (8-0-1). UVM limited UMass to just 14 shots on goal, the lowest total allowed by Vermont in a single game since Jan. 2, 2010 against Alabama Huntsville.
Rob Darrar netted his third goal of the season in the first period, while Lekkas stopped all but one shot he faced for his fourth win in five starts.Â
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
The Big Green enters Tuesday at 2-1-2 (1-1-2 ECAC) through five games. Dartmouth fell to Quinnipiac 6-3 on the road last Friday and tied Princeton 2-2 on Saturday. Rookie Cam Strong leads the team with three goals and four points, while fellow freshman Will Graber has tallied a team-high three assists. Junior goalie Devin Buffalo has played every minute in net with a 2.13 goals against average and a .925 save percentage. Bob Gaudet is in his 20th year as the head coach in Hanover and is 19 wins shy of 300 in his Dartmouth career.
SERIES HISTORY
UVM is looking for its 50th all-time win against Dartmouth on Tuesday in the 79th meeting between the former ECAC rivals. Vermont owns the advantage in the series with Dartmouth at 49-23-6, including a 25-7-3 edge at Gutterson. The Catamounts are 6-1-1 in their last eight games against the Big Green and posted a 1-0 shutout last year in Burlington on Martin St. Louis Night. Number 8 was raised to the Gutterson rafters and
Brendan Bradley won the game with a goal late in the second period.
