Skating Strides AuctionÂ
Entering its 10th season, the Hockey East Skating Strides program has raised over $300,000 for various breast cancer charities across the league. Locally, the money raised from this Friday's game will be donated to the University of Vermont Cancer Center.
Â
We are encouraging all fans to wear pink to the game in support of the event. Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets will be tabling in the lobby of Gutterson and will be selling special edition pink T-shirts and scarves in recognition of the ongoing fight against cancer. The UVM Cancer Center will also have a table in the lobby where fans can learn more about the amazing research and work being done right here in Burlington.
Â
A ceremonial puck drop will occur prior to the game with representatives from the UVM Cancer Center, Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets, and the Vermont Athletic Department.
There will also be a "Chuck-A-Puck" contest during the second intermission. All proceeds raised through "Chuck-A-Puck" will support the UVM Cancer Center while the winner will receive a Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer hockey jersey.
