Dawes Milchling to net the game-winning score in Vermont's 9-8 overtime victory over Sacred Heart on Saturday at Virtue Field. UVM improves to 3-4 on the season as the Pioneers drop to 2-5.

With two minutes to play in overtime, Milchling stormed around Sacred Heart's goal to score on the doorstep to cap off the rookie's third hat trick of the season and Vermont's third win.

Six Catamounts posted points on the board for UVM, including
Cam Stafford who recorded a pair of first half goals and added an assist. Freshman
Jack Knight registered a goal and an assist and
James Barlow netted his 17th goal of the season.
Justin Rosenberg (1-1) made 11 saves in net for the Catamounts and picked up a team-high five ground balls.

Alex Dodge recorded a team-best four goals for the Pioneers, while Brian Masi posted a hat trick and added a pair of assists for a game-high five points. Freshman Greg Price made seven saves in goal for Sacred Heart.

Five different Catamounts gave Vermont a convincing 6-1 advantage over Sacred Heart in the first half. The Cats went on a 4-0 run while Rosenberg held the Pioneers scoreless for 29:39, until Masi ended Sacred Heart's drought with a goal 11 minutes into the third quarter.

The Pioneers responded with a heavily offensive fourth quarter as Sacred Heart combined for five straight goals within five minutes for its first lead of the game. Milchling tied the game at seven apiece midway through the fourth, before Dodge struck with 57 seconds on the clock.

After a Vermont penalty with 42 seconds to play, Milligan tallied his second man-down goal in six games to send the Catamounts into their first overtime matchup of the season. Milchling tossed a pass over the Sacred Heart net to Milligan, who charged the cage to send UVM and Sacred Heart into a fifth period.

TJ Subel took to the X for a third-straight game for Vermont and won 10-of-19 faceoffs. Sacred Heart outshot the Catamounts 39-31, while UVM held the 18-13 edge in ground balls.
