BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vanessa VanderZalm matched her career-high with eight points, while
Alison Bolt and
Courtney Cole netted hat tricks to lead the Vermont Catamounts past visiting Siena, 17-11, in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Virtue Field on Saturday.

Miller scored at the 26:02 mark to open the game and give Siena a 1-0 lead. Vermont answered with three straight goals off the sticks of

Alex Bernier and Bolt to take a 3-1 lead with 21:28 remaining in the first half.

Miller converted a free-position shot to halt the Catamount rally, but UVM struck three more times to extend its lead to 6-2 midway through the half.

Siena out scored Vermont 3-2 over the final 13 minutes of the first stanza, but the Catamounts took an 8-5 lead into the break.

UVM pushed its lead to five with a pair of goals to open the second half, but Croutier netted back-to-back tallies to cut the lead to three with 23:24 left to play.

VanderZalm and Cole combined to score UVM's next five goals over the next 10 minutes to stretch Vermont's advantage lead to 15-8.

The Saints scored three of the final four goals, but could not complete the comeback effort.

Maddy Kuras made eight saves to pick up the win in the Vermont net, while Samantha Horton was credited with eight stops for Siena.

The Catamounts return to action on Saturday (March 26) when they host Albany to open America East action. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Virtue Field, marking the first home night game in program history. The game will be streamed online for free via AmericaEast.tv at UVMathletics.com.
