BURLINGTON, Vt. –
Ian MacKay's game-high seven points pushed the junior past the 100 career goal milestone in Vermont's 14-10 conference win over UMBC on Saturday afternoon at Virtue Field. The Catamounts improve to 6-7 (2-2) on the season, while the Retrievers fall to 3-8 (0-4).

MacKay piled up his seven points on five goals and a pair of assists and extended his point streak to 42 straight games. The Ontario native became just the ninth player in program history with 100 goals, lifting him into a tie for seventh all-time in career goals scored with Kip Edwards '01. MacKay is also four points from tying Edwards for eighth on the all-time points list.Â
Five more Catamounts produced multi-point showings, including

Jon Kaplan made his fifth straight start and collected nine saves in goal for Vermont.

Nate Lewnes and Max Maxwell each posted a hat trick to combine for six of UMBC's 10 goals, and dished out two helpers apiece. Ruston Souder had a double-figure save showing in goal for the Retrievers and stopped 13 shots.

UMBC tallied the opening goal in the first minute of play, but Vermont responded with four unanswered goals from four different Catamounts. After 15 minutes, UVM held a 5-3 advantage over the Retrievers.

Nick Bartlett sparked a three-score run for Vermont in the second quarter as MacKay followed with his first two tallies of the day. UVM extended its lead to 8-3 with MacKay's milestone tally, before Maxwell and Zach Kalas each posted a goal in the remaining minutes of the half. Milchling and Clarke added two more Catamount scores and sent the teams to the locker room with a 10-5 cushion over UMBC.

The third quarter was a defensive battle as both teams combined for only three goals and 14 total shots. MacKay's third goal in the period lifted him to seventh all-time in career goals scored.

Vermont went 4-for-4 on extra man opportunities and cleared 19-of-20 attempts. Shots favored UVM 38-32 and the Cats picked up 33 ground balls compared to UMBC's 29.
Luc LeBlanc dominated at the faceoff X by winning 15 of his 20 draws.

UVM travels to West Hartford, Connecticut next Saturday (April 23) to take on second place Hartford.
