BURLINGTON, Vt. – Brian Wright's left-footed finish with 1:25 remaining in double overtime lifted the Catamounts past Cal State Fullerton 3-2 on Friday afternoon in a matchup of 2015 NCAA Tournament participants at Virtue Field.
Bernard Yeboah paced the Vermont attack with a pair of goals in the season-opening victory.

The Titans began the contest with a flurry of corner kicks, and
Arthur Bacquet cleared some danger with a goal line save in the 35
th minute.
A minute later, Yeboah struck for his first of the day on a loose ball outside the Fullerton penalty box. Yeboah turned to fire a powerful right-footed volley inside the left post to beat David Rodriguez Elias and open the scoring.
With 3:30 left in the first half, rookie
Christopher Watts bounced a right-footed shot off the turf and onto the cross bar. Wright then hit the cross bar off a pass from
Shane Haley just outside the penalty spot four minutes into the second half.
The Titans equalized in the 51
st minute through Ronaldo Pineda, who lofted a long shot into the upper left corner past
Eric Venezia from 40 yards away.
Yeboah was denied an open chance at the left post in the 59
th minute after a low centering pass from Wright. The senior found redemption three minutes later off another Wright setup, slotting a shot off the right post through Titan traffic to restore the UVM lead.
Alex Heilmann tied the game at two with 12 minutes to play, finishing a first-time opportunity inside the Vermont box after a left wing cross from Robert Coronado.
Both teams were solid defensively in overtime and the game seemed headed for a tie before Wright's late heroics. The reigning America East Tournament Most Outstanding Player took one touch inside the 18 and buried a low shot with his left foot under Rodriguez Elias in the closing minutes.
Venezia picked up the win for UVM while making four saves in just his second career start.
