HANOVER, N.H. – A three-goal first half gave Dartmouth an early lead over the Vermont field hockey team as the Catamounts ultimately fell by a 4-1 score Friday at Chase Field.

With the win, Dartmouth is now 2-3 on the season. The Catamounts drop to 4-3.

The Big Green jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute.
Lena Benwood made three saves in the sequence before Joanne Nazareth put Dartmouth on the board. The team doubled its lead in the sixth minute, converting a penalty corner attempt that saw Anna Ewasechko find the back of the cage.

Dartmouth sent the teams into the halftime break with a 3-0 score after Carmen Braceras received a feed from Evie Bird and fired a shot for a goal.

UVM's lone goal came in the final minute of regulation when
Landon Warren sent a shot past Dartmouth goalkeeper Emma Plumb. It was the sophomore's fifth tally of the season.

Benwood notched three saves on the day for Vermont, while Plumb turned aside seven attempts for the Big Green. Senior
Emily Snowden also made her season debut in goal for UVM, turning in a clean 21-minute performance in the second half and making two stops.

The Catamounts created several opportunities on offense in the second frame, outshooting Dartmouth by a 10-8 margin. UVM also ended the day with a 7-5 advantage on penalty corners.

Vermont will attempt to get back on the winning track on Sunday, hosting Rhode Island rival Bryant at 1 p.m. at Moulton Winder Field in Burlington.
