STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Last season, Stony Brook ended Vermont's NCAA Tournament hopes with a 70-64 loss in the America East Championship game but the Catamounts avenged the loss on Saturday night with a 71-64 America East win at Island Federal Credit Union Arena. The victory extended UVM's winning streak to 10 games.

Vermont improves to 18-5 and posts its eighth 10-game winning streak in program history. The Cats sweep the first half the conference schedule with an 8-0 mark. Stony Brook drops to 11-10 overall and 6-2 in league play.

Ernie Duncan had the long ball working from the first time he touched the ball as the redshirt sophomore dropped 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting with all six field goals coming from beyond the arc. Duncan also recorded four rebounds and dished out four assists.
Payton Henson and
Anthony Lamb reached double figures for UVM with 10 points apiece. Henson shot 5-of-6 from the floor with three rebounds while Lamb made 4-of-7 attempts from the field and grabbed a pair of boards.
Drew Urquhart nearly matched Henson and Lamb with nine points on 3-of-4 shooting.

Lucas Woodhouse matched Duncan with 22 points for his fourth 20-point outing of the season. Woodhouse shot 8-of-12 from the floor with five assists. Tyrell Sturdivant added 13 points for the Seawolves on 5-of-10 shooting. Jordan Saintel contributed eight points and six rebounds.

The opening five minutes kept the score tight but Vermont broke out with a 17-8 run and built a 25-14 lead with under nine minutes left in the period. After four quick points by the Seawolves, the Catamounts kept pushing the tempo and produced an 11-4 run over a seven-minute stretch. With two and a half minutes remaining in the half, the green and gold held a 39-22 advantage.

Stony Brook scored the final eight points of the period, including a buzzer-beater by Woodhouse to cut UVM's lead down to 39-30 at the break.

Vermont started the second half on a 7-2 run but Stony Brook mounted a huge comeback and cut the margin to a one-possession game. The Seawolves went on a 12-0 run and trailed 46-44 with 13:21 remaining in the game.

The Cats tried to hold off the home team's surge but Stony Brook tied the score at 50-50 with 11:02 left on the clock.

Despite allowing the Seawolves to tie the game, the green and gold did not trail for the remainder of the game and outscored Stony Brook 19-12 in the final 10 minutes . With 16 ticks left on the clock and coming out of Stony Brook timeout, Lamb threw a baseball pass from the baseline to a wide-open
