Vermont will make its first appearance at Yost Arena this weekend for a two-game non-conference series against the Big Ten's Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor. SCOUTING MICHIGAN
Michigan is 1-1-0 after playing a pair of ECAC schools in New York last weekend, beating St. Lawrence 3-1 before falling 3-0 to Clarkson in the North Country. Jake Slaker is the Wolverines' leading returning scorer with 21 points in his rookie campaign, while Tony Calderone netted a team-best 15 goals last season. Michigan had three goaltenders with at least 10 starts during the 2016-17 campaign.
Legendary head coach Red Berenson retired after last season, finishing his 33-year career with the Wolverines after posting a 13-19-3 overall record with a 6-12-2 mark in the Big Ten. Former 23-year Michigan assistant Mel Pearson is the new head coach in Ann Arbor after spending the last six seasons at Michigan Tech, leading the Huskies to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.

Stefanos Lekkas stopped all 21 shots he faced for his first career shutout, complimenting goals from
Tom Forgione,
Matt Alvaro, and
Rob Hamilton in a convincing 3-0 Catamount victory. UVM finished with a commanding 42-21 edge in shots on goal and opened the scoring just 22 seconds into the first period.
ECAC WEEKEND
Connecticut native
Craig Puffer's first goal of the season forced the game into overtime, but No. 17 Quinnipiac's Odeen Tufto scored his second of the night to clinch the game for a 3-2 non-league victory last Saturday afternoon. Lekkas stopped 36 shots for the Catamounts, including 28 saves in the first 40 minutes of the contest.
Liam Coughlin provided the other UVM goal in the second period.
On Sunday afternoon, UVM responded with a 3-2 road win against Union at Messa Rink to snap a four-game skid in the series. Puffer opened the scoring in the second period and
Max Kaufman's first collegiate goal later in the frame put the Catamounts ahead for good.
Matt O'Donnell provided an insurance goal in the third for his first of the year, while Lekkas made 31 saves for his 20th career victory.
