ALBANY, N.Y. – The Catamounts overcame a five-goal deficit in the second half and tied the game late, but could not reach the win column on Wednesday afternoon with a 12-10 non-conference defeat at Siena.

Vermont falls to 0-5 on the year and Siena improves to 1-3 overall.
The Cats had four players net two goals apiece –
Jenna Janes,
Meredith Moore,
Alison Bolt, and
Brynne Yarranton.
Courtney Cole and
Alex Vignona added one goal each for UVM. Janes and Bolt also combined for five caused turnovers.
Catherine Green made seven saves between the pipes.
Siena used hat tricks from Alexis Deaken, Julia Sardella, and Cara McQuillan to pick up the non-conference victory. Lauren Anglim recorded a pair of goals for the Saints' offense. Sammy Horton had a busy afternoon in goal with 13 saves.
The Catamounts struck first less than five minutes into the game when Cole netted the first goal of the game. The Saints answered with a pair of goals and took a 3-2 lead, but not before UVM came back once again.
Jenna Janes and
Brynne Yarranton scored back-to-back goals for Vermont in a one-minute span.
With the green and gold leading 3-2, Siena strung together four consecutive scores including the game-tying and go-ahead goals from McQuillan. UVM added one more before the end of the half as Moore tallied her fifth goal of the season with 37 ticks left on the clock and Vermont trailed 6-4 at the break.
In the second half, the Saints's offense produced four unanswered goals to start the final period and stretched their lead to 9-4 with at the 25:53 mark.
After the two squads traded scores, UVM rallied and tied the game at 10-10 as Bolt netted the equalizer with 10:42 left on the clock.
Siena scored the decisive goal three minutes later when Deaken converted a free position goal. As the clock ticked down to three minutes and change, Sardella provided an insurance goal for the Saints and the final margin of victory.
