Colton was tied for the team-lead in goals (12) and tied for second in points (27) despite missing four of the final five games of the season due to injury. The Robbinsville, New Jersey native was fifth among Hockey East rookies in scoring during the regular season and ranked 13th nationally. He was also ninth among league rookies at nearly 52-percent on faceoffs.
Fellow All-Rookie honoree Clayton Keller (Boston University) and Colton were the only first-year skaters in the entire league to lead their team in scoring. The forward was also a two-time runner up for the Hockey East Rookie of the Month award in both November and January. On Jan. 20 against UConn, he became the first Catamount to register four assists in a single game since Chris McCarthy on Feb. 21, 2014.
The Tampa Bay Lightning draft pick was part of the 10th-highest scoring rookie class in the nation this season. Colton helped UVM to its third 20-win season in the last four years and its highest Hockey East playoff seed since 2009.
