MIXING IT UP IN NON-CONFERENCE
Vermont has played eight different conferences during the 10-game non-conference schedule after Thursday's finale. The Cats opened the season with a ACC showdown at Louisville, then traveled to Big Ten power Ohio State. The green and gold played two schools from the Patriot League (Colgate and Holy Cross) and a pair of MAAC programs (Marist and Siena). The remaining conferences include the Northeast Conference (Bryant), Big East (Denver), Pac-12 (Oregon), and A-10 (St. Bonaventure).
LAST TIME OUTÂ
The Catamounts concluded their two-game road trip in the Mile High City with a 17-7 non-conference loss to Oregon last Friday. Vermont had a trio of seniors score two goals apiece –
Meredith Moore, Yarranton, and Bolt. Yarranton also dished out an assist while Moore recorded two assists.
Jenna Janes added a goal and an assist for the Cats. Kuras and
Catherine Green split time in goal and each made four saves.
SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
Since the calendar turned into March, the Bonnies have nearly doubled their goals per game. St. Bonaventure averaged 6.67 scores per outing in February but have ramped its offensive attack up to 11.0 goals per game in March. Redshirt senior LeighAnn Stauffer, the reigning A-10 Player of the Week, leads the Bonnies with 21 points and holds a share of the team lead with 13 goals. Stauffer has posted eight goals in the last three games with a pair of assist hat tricks. Fellow senior Scarlet Jaworski follows with 13 goals and has found the back of the net in all seven games this season. Junior goalie Morgan Conroy has stopped 78 shots for a .456 save percentage this year. The Bonnies were picked to finish ninth in the A-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON
The Bearcats have fired 33.9 shots per game this season to lead all America East offenses. Rebecca Golderman has contributed 23 goals for Binghamton and ranks fifth in the league. Jacqueline Kennedy has scored 15 goals and dished out five assists for 20 points this season. Among America East goalies, Emma Jehle sits third overall with a .449 save percentage and has cracked the top-five with a 12.76 goals-against average. In the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, Binghamton was picked to finish sixth behind Vermont.
SERIES HISTORY
St. Bonaventure will be visiting Burlington for the first time in the all-time series as the Bonnies and the Catamounts square off for only the second time in program history. The two teams met during the 2007 season in Eugene, Ore. with St. Bonaventure coming away with a 20-15 win.
Â
Vermont holds an 11-4 all-time lead over Binghamton which dates back to 2002. The Catamounts tallied eight wins in the first nine games, but the series has evened out in the last six years with a 3-3 mark for each team. In UVM's 11 victories, the Cats have averaged 18.2 goals per game and have reached the 20-goal mark five times.
